2007 Meeting Minutes

April 17, 2007 Meeting Minutes

Members present:  Chairperson Ryan Grant, Maridee Curry, Herb Little.  Others present:  Debby Curry, Bill May, Joe Wielinski, Dennis Recker and Mark Weber.

Chairperson Ryan Grant called the Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Maridee Curry made a motion to approve the March 21, 2006 Minutes.  Motion seconded by Herb Little.  Motion passed 3-0.

Chairman Grant asked Administrator Recker to provide the background on  the meetings only business item "Tier One Downtown Revitalization Planning Grant".  The Administrator explained the Villages past experience with this Grant program and how special funding assistance from Lucas County and the State of Ohio makes this an especially good time to pursue the Tier One Planning Grant.

There was some discussion regarding the lack of follow through from many of the Business Owners during the Village's previous Downtown Revitalization Grant.  The discussion resulted in a Committee decision to recommend Council authorize the Village Administrator to coordinate an interest meeting with the Downtown Business Owners to gauge their interest in participating in this Grant program.  The Administrator will coordinate this meeting through the Whitehouse Village Chamber of Commerce.

September 18, 2007 Meeting Minutes 

Members present:  Chairperson Ryan Grant, Maridee Curry, Herb Little.  Others present:  Mayor Stan Wielinski, Debby Curry, Bill May, Dennis Recker and Barbara Knisely.  

Chairperson Ryan Grant called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and made the motion to approve the Minutes from the April 17, 2007 meeting.  Maridee Curry seconded the motion.  Motion passed 3-0.  

Dennis Recker provided background on the new design of the Village web site and a promotional brochure.  The Administrator explained the interview process which was held with various agencies and asked for approval of a contract not to exceed $12,000 with Communica, Inc. to construct a new Village web site and prepare a promotional flyer for the Village’s economic development efforts.  Ryan Grant made a motion to authorize the Law Director to prepare legislation authorizing the Administrator to enter into a contract.  Maridee Curry seconded the motion, motion passed 3-0.  

Administrator Recker then reviewed the Village’s background with the Lucas County Improvement Corporation (LCIC).  Discussion was held concerning the Village forming a local improvement corporation, as was done previously with the Anthony Wayne Improvement Corporation.  Mayor Wielinski reported on a meeting that he attended, and stated that he recommends the Village of Whitehouse remain a member of LCIC for at least one additional year.  Ryan Grant made the motion to pay the fees for 2008.  Herb Little seconded the motion.  Motion passed 2-1 (Maridee Curry voting no).  

There being no further business before this Committee, meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
