The
Village of Whitehouse has a full time Building & Zoning Department certified
by the State of Ohio. The Village contracts with the City of Maumee for plan
review and inspections, however all building and zoning permits are issued
through the Village.
Prior to beginning any building project, please call Village employees at 419-877-5383. Our friendly staff can assist you with any questions concerning permits, fees, building plan approval, etc. When changes are made to our zoning code, building permit fees, or regulations, residents will be notified through our quarterly Village "Hometown News" newsletter and on the Village web site.
The Village of Whitehouse recently passed legislation requiring all contractors to be registered with the Village before they are issued any type of permits. With this information, we are able to provide a list of contractors to residents or business owners who would like to hire a reputable company. Each contractor is required to provide complete information concerning their business and they are checked through the Better Business Bureau to see if complaints have been filed against them. We will also note if our inspectors have had problems with a contractor. This is a great tool to assist our residents before allowing a contractor into their home.
Barbara Knisely was hired as the Building & Zoning Clerk in November 2006 and has 17 years of previous government experience, working for the cities of Maumee and Bowling Green before coming to Whitehouse. Please feel free to call or e-mail Barb at bknisely@whitehouse.ohio.gov with any questions.
