New Drop Box - The entrance to Village Hall has a new look!  The Village recently replaced the small drop box near the entrance with a larger box that can accommodate building plans, water bills, tax returns, and other documents when the offices are closed.  The box was painted by BASF and features the new logo used on our web site.  A great big thank-you goes out to BASF, a Whitehouse business that is globally recognized for their specialty paint products.
YMCA Summer Rec Program - The Village of Whitehouse has partnered with the YMCA to host a summer recreation program for children 6 to 12 years of age.  The program will run from July 14 through August 8 at the Whitehouse Park from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. daily.  Whitehouse residents will be required pay the registration fee of $20 per child, plus $5.00 per week to participate.  Registration begins May 1 at the YMCA location in Waterville or by phoning 419-441-0013.
Position Opening - The Village of Whitehouse seeks an energetic person for full time employment in the Department of Public Service. Duties consist of indoor and outdoor maintenance activities in the water, wastewater, sanitation, streets, and parks departments. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid Ohio Commercial Drivers license or have the ability to obtain one and be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Applicants who possess a Commercial Drivers License and have experience in building maintenance and water and sewer main construction are preferred. Temporary Sign Ordinance - Village Council recently decided to suspend Chapter 1259.07 (F) of the Village Zoning Code pertaining to temporary signage in the Village. During this suspension, the Village Planning Commission will study signage regulations from other communities in an effort to improve our regulations concerning both temporary and permanent signs. Remember, only the temporary sign regulation has been suspended until September.

We invite you to participate in this zoning code review and appreciate suggestions and input regarding sign regulations. Please fax comments to 419-877-5635 or e-mail to bknisely@whitehouse.ohio.gov  Comments should be provided by May 30, 2008, to ensure they will be received in time to be considered in the review.

Grass and  Noxious Weeds - The spring and summer mowing season is almost here!  Remember, all land within the Village limits shall have the grass cut to a height not in excess of six inches and shall be kept free and clear from all noxious weeds and rank vegetation.  See rules and regulations in the attached Legal Notice.
Tornado Season - In northwestern Ohio, April to June is the official tornado season.  When a tornado is spotted in the area, the Village of Whitehouse will sound the alarm.  All residents are encouraged to go to their basements to seek shelter until the dangerous conditions have passed.  If you do not have a basement, the Whitehouse Elementary School will be unlocked and residents can gather there in a safe location.

Firewood Stacks - The Whitehouse Village Planning Commission would like to invite you to comment on the proposed Zoning Code language concerning fire wood stacks.
